WA: DNA database to help fight shark poaching
The fight against illegal shark fishing and the black market trade in jaws and fins
has been given new teeth today in the form of a DNA database.
Scientists in Western Australia have produced the DNA database to identify protected
and commercially important sharks.
Department of Fisheries' shark research scientist RORY MCAULEY says genetic profiles
have been established for nine key species including great white .. grey nurse and hammerhead
